Hi Tweeters,
I've been remiss in not posting about the start of the audible night flight
of Swainson's Thrushes over my Battle Ground, Clark County over the last
4-5 nights. It is certainly reassuring (at least to me) that some things
are consistent from year to year. As in years past, most birds were heard
within an hour of dawn as they presumably descend in elevation and maybe
call more as they anticipate landfall and the search for food. The night
flight's have been punctuated by a screeching Barn Owl yesterday morning
and a pair of duetting Great-horned Owls in the whee hours this morning.
Keep your eyes and ears skyward.
Jim
