Saw a bird in my yard yesterday that seems to be either a Hammond's
flycatcher or a Pacific-slope flycatcher. Like the Hammond's it seemed
to have a much lighter whiter underside - fluffy - but like the Pacific
- slope the lower mandible seemed to be orangeish. Pronounced white eye
ring, white wing bars, right size and rapidly flicked its tail that the
book says Hammond's do but does not say Pacific-slope do but Pacific
more likely in gardens and lakeshores. Sigh. Has anyone in the Seattle
area ever seen a Hammond's in the city? Wish the damn birds would be
more cooperative for ID as I was looking at it in my lilac and it moved
about but when just sitting did the tail flicking.
