The Vancouver Avian Research Centre (VARC) is doing all we can to ensure
safe and engaging programs by moving all of our workshops online. Join us
for our virtual Bird Monitoring & Banding Workshop

on September 19th and 20th 2020 and take advantage of our special pricing!
The workshop has been developed for people with little or no bird banding
experience, although those with existing experience have benefited
enormously from the classroom sessions. Most of all, these workshops are a
fun and interesting way to take your interest in birds to the next level.
Workshop Zoom sessions will consist of facilitated live video presentations
and materials which will be available for print. Learn how
to accurately age, sex and identify plumage, molt sequences and life habits
of North American passerines and receive training in bird safety and
welfare, mist net use and data collection that provide a solid foundation
of the technical skills required for the field. Workshop participants
will have the option to attend two subsequent field session trips to the
Colony Farm banding station for the practical sessions anytime over the
next 12 months as Covid restrictions ease.
