Six, wading just about (their) mid leg depth and feeding in mud, just
about 1:00 PM today (Friday 9/4/2020)

There is a nice trail along one side of this freshwater pond which is
across from Boat Haven and near Safeway in Port Townsend. Funny story:
a young woman riding a very extended bike with a trailer loaded with
gardening tools including leaf blower and edger was traveling through
the park on that trail, I stepped aside to let her pass. She asked me
whether I had seen any interesting birds, to which I said " not yet,
wrong time of day with the sun high." She stood astraddle the bike, and
told me she had seen some long legged, long billed birds "by the wooden
bridge" which she speculated were something like a Whimbrel. Then she
pedaled off. When I reached the bridge, there was a couple placing a
geocache capsule using tree sap as glue under the planks. I found six
Greater Yellow Legs as in the title, that were unbothered by all this
strange human activity.
