I've been doing volunteer bumble bee surveys all over Washington and parts of Oregon for the past two years and I noticed Jeff mentioning the insects he saw on snowberry. Snowberry was one of those reliable plants for finding bumble bees, even if there were very few flowers left. I think it must offer some of the most readily available nectar and pollen for bees.



I was struck, though, with the number of non-native plants that would rank my top ten or twenty plants for attracting bumble bees, plants like Armenian Blackberry, Bull and Canada Thistle, Everlasting Pea, lavender, oregano, tansy ragwort, St. John's Wort….
