>>> To celebrate our 54th anniversary last week we went to Sequim for our first overnight birding trip since the start of the pandemic. We had good ferry karma (less than 2 minutes waiting time total roundtrip), good tides for birding, but less than good weather (high winds on the first day followed by smoke from wildfires after that). However we still saw good birds and enjoyed the change of scenery.

>>> On the way to Sequim we stopped by Point No Point. The wind was howling. The parking lot was full. The overflow lot was gated. We still managed to see two California Scrub-Jays, not uncommon for that location.

>>> We always enjoy birding Kah Tai Lagoon in Port Townsend. This time there were many close in shorebirds as well as a variety of small birds and some ducks.

>>>

>>> Since we had a scope Marlyn Nelson County Park east of Sequim was good for alcids and loons.

>>>

>>> We always enjoy Ediz Hook in Port Angeles. Wind and lighting were problematic, but there were many Black Turnstones and Harlequin Ducks.
