Hi, in late May I got myself a decent camera for the first time in decades. I spent the next 3 months crisscrossing our state in search of subjects… along the way I became absolutely head-over-heals obsessed with our butterflies, of which I photographed 65 species during that period.
Attached below are links to the images I obtained over the course of those 3 months. Heavy on the butterflies, there are plenty of birds as well… such as White-tailed Ptarmigan, Spruce Grouse, Great Gray Owl, Green-tailed Towhee and more. Mammals are represented as well, with species such as Pine Marten, Moose, both our species of golden-mantled ground squirrels, and 3 of our chipmunk species that aren't Townsend's.

…it's alphabetical, but the butterflies are all first… birds and mammals follow

There are some resident Washington butterflies which have not been documented in years… or even decades, because they are in tough, restricted locales and people don't even try. I am liking this plenty.
