Sorry for the late post ... got back late last night. My son Alex along with Steve Caldwell and I took a trip to the Ocean Shores area yesterday. Best bird was a Black Phoebe at the Ocean Shores sewage treatment plant. A large group of Common Murres ... possibly 2 or 3 thousand, was congregated along the rock breakwater to the Northeast ... a heartening site. While at the settling ponds near the Bowerman Basin airport we had approximately 170 Sandhill Cranes fly over in 4 or 5 waves. We could hear them coming before we could see them ... very fun! We also got to Oyhut around noon ... but missed the good stuff seen earlier in the day. By noon the reserve was inundated by people and dogs ... and along with these disturbances a Peregrine kept most of the shorebirds from landing for more than a few seconds.
