Late Friday morning, the rain was driving me away from the Ebey Waterfront Trail in Marysville, when I seceded to take one last look at all the gulls. I spied one smaller hull with a partial hood, prominent eye arcs, black bill and dark legs. It was a Franklin's Gull, quite different from the 250 or so non-hooded Bonaparte's in the main pond. Later seen by three other birders. Tends to hang around the western end but also check the log boom in the main pond. I saw it in the area between the 529 bridge and the treatment plant buildings along the trail.
