Hello Tweets,

With all the remarks about Greater White Fronted Geese and Cackling Geese being seen further north I decided to go by M Street Marsh in Auburn yesterday evening. Sure enough right when I got there at the first field I saw my first of fall Cackling Geese, about 80, along with 11 Greater White Fronted Geese. There were also 19 Canada Geese with them. There was a second flock of Cacklers in the big field, about 70.

Then I went down to the end by the bridge and that's when the Geese flyovers started coming. Wave after wave of Cackling Geese flew over, at least 1000 in total but I stopped counting. I was hoping to spot other Geese species mixed in with the Cacklers but no luck.

It was really windy and there were also quite a few passerines moving low overhead. I wish I was better at flight calls to pick up on what the different groups were.

Also got my first Northern Harrier for M Street. It was a female and was hunting over the large grass field to the south.

It was a good evening!

Happy Fall Migration,
