While while birds certainly can forage on their own without feeders on either side of the mountains, wintering hummingbirds in eastern Washington likely cannot, particularly during the cold snowy weather currently occurring. So, I would advocate for those who have hummingbird feeders up in central and eastern Washington for wintering Anna's, do a regular cleaning but leave the hummer feeders up.
