On May 16th, Dan Nelson found and photographed a Black-throated Sparrow on the Cape Horn Trail in Skamania County. Dan writes a natural history blog where he posted the sighting and was unaware of the rarity of this bird in western Washington until I let him know that it was only the second county record.
