This afternoon my son Matthew and I participated in the Puget Sound Seabird Survey today with veteran citizen scientists Cindy and Calen. During our observation at Brown's Point Lighthouse we had a Brown Pelican do a southbound flyby just above the surface.
I know they make their way into Puget Sound from time to time, but I've only seen them on the coast. Not quite rare, I guess, but the "Bird of the Day" for me.
