Subject: [Tweeters] Swans and HPAI deaths

Please be aware that several swans have died over the past 2 weeks in the
Snoqualmie Valley area and 1 this week. I know that 1 in the Monroe area
is AI. The others were not able to be collected due to where they are
located. The one at Alkai beach in Seattle is suspected AI.
If anyone finds a sick or dead swan be sure to call the WDFW Swan
Hotline 360-466-4345 x266. If the line is not working or you are unable to
leave a message please call or text me at 206-713-3684. I can get the
message to the appropriate person.
Please do not handle or pick up these swans or geese or any dead bird
you do not know why it died. AI is also being seen in owls in the Skagit
and it is likely in other birds as well. Keep in mind that while
transmission may be very very low, it can infect humans and some other
species.
Sorry to be the bearer of this sad news.
