We arrived at Ballard Locks around 8:30 a.m. this morning. We were thrilled to find about three dozen cormorant fishing in the foaming waters below the spillway. The water flow is pretty intense as a result of recent rains and I think the cormorants were working hard catching fish. There were lots of goldeneye fishing in the calmer waters on both sides, but mostly on the south side by the fish ladder. We eventually walked up to the gardens and returned around 9:45 a.m. to find that most of the cormorants had finished fishing and departed. The goldeneye were still at it.
