Hi, Tweets

I am using some of the eBird sightings along with those that are on Tweeters or sent to me. Right now, since it’s still early, most reports are of single birds. Along the coast and in a few other areas there seem to be more numerous sightings and it could be overwintering turkey vultures since some do hang around all year.

JANUARY

02 – One turkey vulture perched in a tree at Chinook Valley, Pacific Co.

07 -- One at Catherine Creek, Klickitat Co.

22 – One over Ivor Davies Park, Clackamas Co., Oregon; 1 flyover at Julia Butler Hansen NWR.

28 – One at the Skagit Wildlife Area.

29 – One bird, first of the year, flying northbound this afternoon over Silverton, Oregon

31 – Two from S. Gorton Road, Lincoln Co., Oregon.

FEBRUARY

02 – One turkey vulture at Bowen Island, Turnstall Bay, B.C.

07 – One from Agassiz Bridge Road, Fraser Valley, BC.; two flying over Dallas Retirement Village, Polk County, Oregon.

08 – One flying over US 2 in Chelan County.

11 – Three over Yaquina Bay Road, Oregon.

12 – One from the Zylstra Loop Trail, San Juan Island.

15 – FOY turkey vulture flying westbound above Highway 101 just outside of Olympia.

18 – One early bird seen from Hwy.9 near Deming.

20 – One sitting on a large gravel pile by the side of the road near Othello; two over Butterfield County, Oregon.

21 – One flying across the Columbia River from Oregon, Cowlitz County; one soaring over Vancouver Lake Lowlands, Oregon.

22 – One at Discovery Bay.

25 – One turkey vulture from U.S. 101 in Port Angeles.

27 – One in the Powell River District, B.C.

As always, many thanks for the great turkey vulture sightings. More are coming! I am so glad they aren’t an endangered species!!

Sorry about the fonts, my computer is misbehaving.
