Sorry this is late but covid finally caught up with me (after two years of masks/vacs/boosters). Can't win, at times. Anyway, this is the report of sightings I have for April 2022 in Washington, Oregon and even a California sighting. By next month maybe I'll figure out ebird and have more variety.
MARCH
19 -- FOY turkey vilture over Anacortes, a sunny day ca. 50's tempwise; Note: the pattern in Anacortes has been single individuals in early spring, then groups circling overhear as summer weather arrives.
06 -- Two turkey vultures seen separately at Billy Frank Jr NWR.
07 -- A lone turkey vulture soaring in the distance across the Sammamish River in Bothell.
08 -- Ten circling North Bend this morning around 0700; near Port Angeles, a group of six after a single bird; earlier three turkey vultures heading east.
09 -- Six in the afternoon in North Bend; FOY soaring over Lake Stevens at Hwy.9/Soper Hill Road; twelve turkey vultures landed in a cow pasture near Concrete.
11 -- Three at Whitehorse Park, Darrington, 10:15 and one over the Stillaguamish River at C-Post Road, Oso at 1415; dozens of turkey vultures at Red Bluff, CA soaring around and strafing low over fields.
20 -- Six over Hood River, Oregon; Note: Driving from Chehalis to The Dalles, 12-20 birds a day during early April with The Dalles having 4-5 birds and Hood River more of a hot spot.
21 -- Six turkey vultures near Lake Samish; ten circling near Van Zandt and several near Glacier; ca. 20-25 driving between Seattle and Mt. Baker; one seen while walking the Sammamish River Trail near Bothell Landing at around 1200.
23 -- "a few vultures" near Burlington (?).
24 -- One over Trafton Trailhead for Whitehorse Trail east of Arlington, ca. 1200.
25 -- One big black bird over West Seattle, definitely not an eagle!!
26 -- Four TVs circling over Hwy. 20 and March Point Rd. Intersection in Skagit County ca 1500; plus one over Eden’s Msrsh on Guemes island about 1130.
29 -- One turkey vulture overhead at Fobes Road dike near Snohomish ca. 0900.
