That’s the symptom I had on my Swift Audubon 8.5x44. They were otherwise is very good shape. However when the repair shop tried to open them up the steel fasteners had corroded and couldn’t be removed making them unrepairable. Too bad, because they mostly worked before I sent them in but now they are in pieces and unusable. Don’t know what other brands use steel fasteners. Not something I even considered.
