Sorry for the late report but my elkhound has been in the hospital for a while and we're still getting things squared away. Thanks, as always, for the reports. No e-bird reports included this time. To the two gentlemen who think my reports are a "waste of time' - please just pass them by. Vultures do have lots of fans! Anyway, this is the report for May 2023 for Washington state.




MAY


Daily -- 8-10 seen while driving the Columbia Gorge highway.


01 -- One above the ridge line over Anacortes.


03 -- Two turkey vultures at the Billy Frank, Jr. NWR, weather: "lovely"


05 -- Two turkey vultures and a possible black vulture at 11:30 circling above Hgwy101 north of Forks (south of Beaver and the southern part of the Lake Pleasant Community). Good description of the possible black vulture


12 -- One circling low several times over a house in Sammamish around 4pm.


14 -- Two turkey vultures over Port Townsend.


17 -- One over Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually, NWR, a low tide and 'summery' weather.
18 -- A single turkey vulture high over Clear Creek Trail, Silverdale, Kitsap County at 09:20; One over the Puyallp Levee, Rafting Launch to River View, Pierce County; One over Anacortes heading north at 8:20pm.



21 -- Five turkey vulures een sitting in trees in the Skagit/Samish Flats area (note, seen every day but no info); One see around 4pm above Carrie Blake Park in Sequim.


24 -- Three seen at Umpanum Creek and 10:20am; 1 seen at Park Creek Road, Kittitas at 15:00.


25 -- 1 at Lenore Lake's north end at 12:26; One at Umptanum Road, Kittitas County at 08:54.
