First, I apologize to those Tweeters who couldn't read my previous message(s) due to the weird formatting; they look fine from this end.
Second, I never could find an "official" announcement or official request for comments regarding Customs & Border Patrol's proposal for the taking of the SalineƱo Wildlife Preserve property and clearing essential riparian habitat for the Border Fence.
However, I'd sent my comments as noted in the newspaper article to CBP, and received the following reply:
"Your input is important to us and will be considered as part of the environmental planning process.
"After the end of the comment period (September 15, 2023), we will release a report summarizing the feedback we received throughout the comment period.
"Thank you again for your feedback.
-CBP Infrastructure Portfolio Team"
Birding the Rio Grande Valley below Laredo is just amazing. I spent 2 hours there on a field trip through the Laredo Birding Festival, and saw 42 species - with many of the south Texas specialties. To lose this gem of wildlife habitat to continue building the failed Border Fence would be a travesty.
