I have to echo what Dennis and others have said. We've lived in suburban Bothell for over 40 years and years back had swifts, tree and violet green and barn swallows nesting. I haven't seen a swallow around here in 8-10 years, at least. We have never ever had a house sparrow visit. So, perhaps it's a problem with insects, perhaps on the wintering grounds or something else. Sad not to have them.
