Yesterday at Hayton Reserve on Fir Island in Skagit County there were 40 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS. Also, over 100 returning SNOW GEESE, MINIMA CACKLING GEESE and 40 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE. A young PEREGRINE FALCON hunted over the estuary when it wasn't mixing it up with a juv RED-TAILED HAWK and 2 NORTHERN HARRIERS. Shorebirds were scarce at Hayton. I saw a few distant dowitchers.
