A nice, but warm, springtime with turkey vultures soaring here and there - just wish they'd visit Bothell more! Thanks for the reports plus posting on ebird although I only took two from there this time. This report is just from Washington sightings this month.
Hope everyone has a great summer with lots of good birds.
MAY
01 -- Two sitting on a fence in Arlington, Snohomish County, lots of houses nearby plus a horse pasture they flew into, weather sunny and ca. 10:30; one turkey vulture soaring over Snoqualmie, King County, mid afternoon.
02 -- One over Hwy 90, mp 74, Klickitat County; one at intersection of Hwy 90 and turn south to Auburn sailing above cars and into the trees and out (King County?)
03 -- Two turkey vultures soaring very high over the bay near the Hood Canal bridge (Kitsap/Jefferson counties).
07 -- Five turkey vultures circling over the parking lot and fields of Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually NWR, Thurston County, overcast and cool.
12 -- One in low flight near the Sammammish River, Bothell, King County, flew off chased by a crow!
14 -- One turkey vulture over Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually NWR, Thurston County, weather cloudy 40-50 degrees.
15 -- One over JBLM Eagles Pride Golf Course, Pierce County.
17 -- A kettle of seven turkey vultures circling and moving east along the Guemes Channel in Anacortes at 4:20 pm, Skagit County, (nice video); 4 at the Leavenworth Spring BirdFest, Chelan County.
18 -- One in the Pine Ridge neighborhood, Edmonds, King County (photos).
21 -- One over the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually NWR, Thurston County, weather sunny.
22 -- One turkey vulture over the rowing club at Marymoor Park, King County, FOY, high overcast but warming.
24 -- 17 at Salt Creek County Park, Clallam County, 4:44 pm.
30 -- Five circling over Hwy 104 and South Point Road, Port Ludlow, Jefferson County.
